Once again Matt Damon brings the iconic character of Jason Bourne to life in the fifth film of the franchise. Car-chases to the max, a motorcycle chase, a street chase, a sniper, the mystery of Jason Bourne, the CIA, and black ops combine to make this film the highest octane Bourne film to date.
With Jason Bourne being out in the cold for several years, he is trying to live off the grid, however he’s continually haunted by his past. Then his old CIA friend, Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles), contacts him with information about his life and the black ops that turned him from David Webb into Jason Bourne. Once Parsons comes on the scene, the CIA is alerted to Bourne’s location and a hunt is set up with the intent on getting rid of him once and for all.
CIA Director Dewey, (Tommy Lee Jones), is assisted by the agency’s tech wiz Heather Lee (Alicia Vikander) who tracks the former agent through Europe. Car and motorcycle chases galore combine to create an edge-of-your-seat experience.
There are plenty of bonus features that take viewers behind the scenes and show the high level of preparation both the stunt drivers went through as well as Damon who had special training in boxing to make his character the bare-knuckles champ he is.
The most amazing bonus features look at the climactic car chase through Las Vegas. Closing down the strip was a coup for the filmmakers. It was a brilliant collaboration between the filmmakers, the casinos, the local police, and the city of Las Vegas. Countless rehearsals were conducted to make sure the desired effects were realized. And it helped that the famous Riviera hotel was abandoned in preparation for its implosion. This gave the filmmakers access to the hotel without any concern for damage or disruption. With the bonus features, viewers learn the extent of time and hard work that went into making this film the most exciting one in the franchise.
Jason Bourne is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, and brief strong language. The movie is available in a Blu-ray combo pack, a Blu-ray 4K combo pack, and a single DVD beginning December 6.
